I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!

How to make a telescopeToday I received what is considered by many the bible of telescope making in the mail from William-Bell. How to Make a Telescope by Jean Texereau is a 440 page book packed with tons of information about amateur telescope making. My main reason for ordering it is the large section about mirror making that is in the book. I started reading the book and I understand why people have such high praises for the book, the descriptions and images within the book allow you to learn at the perfect pace. Not too fast so you don’t understand what is going on, but not too slow as to make you feel like a child. The book was originally published in French back in 1951, but was translated into English in what I think is 1957 (don’t hold me to that, I am guessing based on the english introduction for the first edition which is dated as such) The second edition added much more information about telescope making and was published in 1983. I ordered a few more books that should be here around friday next week at the latest (I ordered them from half.com to save some money, I am fine buying used items as long as they are in decent condition, anyways… media mail takes between 2-9 days).
